Chemokines proved able to induce release of enzymes relevant in cartilage damage. The present study addressed the levels of CXCL8 and CCL5 and the potential role of these chemokines in predicting the morphological changes in the course of osteoarthritis (OA). Synovial fluid (SF) and blood serum were obtained from 20 patients undergoing knee replacement surgery because of OA.
