The paper presents information on the cultivation of prairie cordgrass as a dedi- cated energy crop. The basic agro-technical treatments for this plant are also presented. Moreover, the optimum parameters of compaction to the form of pellets for prairie cordgrass, i.e. optimal chaff length and moisture content of the material, obtained as a result of the study, are indicated.
