Three isolated contributions to scientific instrumentation are re-emphasised. Although development of the camera lucida and the stereoscope pre-dated photography, all three inventions are of interest to photogrammetrists. They were created by three remarkable British scientists. The men in question were William Hyde Wollaston, Charles Wheatstone and Archibald Ban. Their contributions to science are worthy of detailed study.
