Outer automorphisms of symmetries (``symmetries of symmetries'') in relativistic quantum field theories are studied, including charge conjugation (C), space-reflection (P) , and time-reversal (T) transformations. It is shown that certain discrete groups can predict parameter independent CP violating complex phases with fixed geometrical values. The study of outer automorphisms which are not related to C, P, or T is pioneered. It is shown how outer automorphisms, in general, relate symmetry…
CP as a Symmetry of Symmetries
It is explained that the Standard Model combined charge conjugation and parity transformation (CP) is a simultaneous complex conjugation outer automorphism transformation of gauge and space-time

The framework of compactified heterotic string theory offers consistent ultraviolet (UV) comple-tions of the Standard Model (SM) of particle physics. In this approach, the existence of flavor symmetries
Simultaneous block diagonalization of matrices of finite order
It is well known that a set of non-defect matrices can be simultaneously diagonalized if and only if the matrices commute. In the case of non-commuting matrices, the best that can be achieved is
CP violation with an unbroken CP transformation
Author(s): Ratz, Michael; Trautner, Andreas | Abstract: A CP conserving SU(3) gauge theory is spontaneously broken to T7 by the vacuum expectation value (VEV) of a 15-plet. Even though the SU(3)-CP
Neutrino Flavour Symmetries
We provide a general classification of flavour symmetries according to their interplay with the proper Poincare' and gauge groups and to their linear or nonlinear action in field space. We focus on
Dark Matter from self-dual gauge/Higgs dynamics
Abstract We show that a new gauge group with one new scalar leads to automatically stable Dark Matter candidates. We consider theories where the Higgs phase is dual to the confined phase: it is
Matching to Higgs-Compositeness and Renormalization of the Higgs-Electroweak Chiral Lagrangian extended by a Scalar Singlet
We match the electroweak chiral Lagrangian with two singlet scalars to the next-to-minimal composite Higgs model with SO (6) /SO (5) coset structure and extract the scalar divergences to one loop.

SPACE INVERSION, TIME REVERSAL, AND OTHER DISCRETE SYMMETRIES IN LOCAL FIELD THEORIES
The general algebraic relations between space inversion, time reversal, and the internal symmetry group are analyzed within the framework of a Lorentz-invariant local field theory. The problem of
Classification of finite reparametrization symmetry groups in the three-Higgs-doublet model
Symmetries play a crucial role in electroweak symmetry breaking models with non-minimal Higgs content. Within each class of these models, it is desirable to know which symmetry groups can be
Antisymmetric tensor Zp gauge symmetries in field theory and string theory
A bstractWe consider discrete gauge symmetries in D dimensions arising as remnants of broken continuous gauge symmetries carried by general antisymmetric tensor fields, rather than by standard
Non-Abelian Discrete Groups from the Breaking of Continuous Flavor Symmetries
We discuss the possibility of obtaining a non-abelian discrete flavor symmetry from an underlying continuous, possibly gauged, flavor symmetry SU(2) or SU(3) through spontaneous symmetry breaking. We
CP and discrete flavour symmetries
A bstractWe give a consistent definition of generalised CP transformations in the context of discrete flavour symmetries. Non-trivial consistency conditions imply that every generalised CP
Adding CP to flavour symmetries
I propose the use of CP-odd invariants, which are independent of basis and valid for any choice of CP transformation, as a powerful approach to study CP in the presence of flavour symmetries. As
Symmetry breaking patterns in 3HDM
A bstractAn attractive feature of New Physics models with multiple Higgs fields is that they are equipped with discrete symmetry groups in the Higgs and flavour sectors. These symmetry groups are
