From 1983 to 1996, during road travel and field work, all raptors observed were recorded. Obser- vations took place in regions of extensive sheep, cattle and goat production in steppe areas of the Andean foothills. A total of 7688 sightings of raptors belonging to 16 species were recorded. Each record included date, time, geographic location, species, habitat, ecological region, weather conditions and whether the individual was flying, on the ground, or perching.
