In the course of a study of antiphage substances a yellow, crystalline antibiotic substance, which has been named Chrysomycin, was isolated from an unidentified Streptomyces. A number of yellow antibiotic substances derived from Streptomyces have recently been described, among others aureolic acid (Philip and Schenck, 1953), chartreusin (Leach et al., 1953), limocrocin (Brockmann and Grothe, 1953), phalamycin (Brown and Hazen, 1953), thioaurin (Bolhofer et al., 1953), and xanthothrycin…
