Quantum mechanical meson-antimeson oscillations are sensitive to heavy degrees of freedom which propagate in the underlying mixing amplitudes. Comparing observed meson mixing with predictions of the Standard Model (SM), modern experimental studies would be able to constrain models of New Physics (NP).
