Interaction between B lymphocytes and other cell types is mediated in part by the B-cell adhesion molecule CD22. Recent work has suggested one of the T-cell ligands of B cells to be CD45RO, an isoform of the receptor-linked phosphotyrosine phosphatase CD45. Here we demonstrate direct interaction between CD22 and several isoforms of CD45, including CD45RO, and propose that the interaction may participate in regulation of lymphocyte signaling.
