The globally increased demand for helium-3 along with the limited availability of this gas calls for the development of alternative technologies for the large ESS instrumentation pool. We report on the CASCADE Project - a novel detection system, which has been developed for the purposes of neutron spin echo spectroscopy. It features 2D spatially resolved detection of thermal neutrons at high rates. The CASCADE detector is composed of a stack of solid 10B coated Gas Electron Multiplier foils…

The RESEDA (Resonant Spin-Echo for Diverse Applications) instrument has been optimized for neutron scattering measurements of quasi-elastic and inelastic processes over a wide parameter range. One

Neutron MIEZE spectroscopy with focal length tuning

We report on a method to tune the focal length of high resolution neutron MIEZE spectrometers. The MIEZE technique relies on a fast sinusoidal neutron intensity modulation up to the MHz range,

Particle tracking with micro-pattern gaseous detectors

GEM and micromegas detectors are Micro-Pattern Gaseous Detectors (MPGDs). They are intrinsi- cally high-rate capable and show excellent spatial resolution due to small drift lengths and high read-out

Optimized signal deduction procedure for the MIEZE neutron spectroscopy technique

We report a method to determine the phase and amplitude of sinusoidally modulated event rates, binned into 4 bins per oscillation. The presented algorithm relies on a reconstruction of the unknown

Time of flight modulation of intensity by zero effort on Larmor.

A time-of-flight modulation of intensity by zero effort spectrometer mode has been developed for the Larmor instrument at the ISIS pulsed neutron source. The instrument utilizes resonant spin

Extending MIEZE spectroscopy towards thermal wavelengths

A modulation of intensity with zero effort (MIEZE) setup is proposed for high-resolution neutron spectroscopy at momentum transfers up to 3 Å−1, energy transfers up to 20 meV and an energy resolution

The software package MIEZEPY for the reduction of MIEZE data

The framework and implementation of the software package MIEZEPY, as well as the physical and mathematical principles underlying the data reduction procedure will be introduced to lay out the complexity of this task.

Applying Resonant Spin Flippers with Poleshoes and Longitudinal Radio Frequency Fields to Time of Flight MIEZE

A time of flight MIEZE spectrometer study is presented. The instrument uses solenoid radio frequency (RF) spin flippers with square pole shoes and a magnetic yoke. These flippers can achieve higher
