Abstract. In this contribution, a systematic approach to the calibration of particle models, i.e. characterizing a relationship between microscopic (defined on the level of individual interparticle bonds) and macroscopic parameters is presented. The procedure is based on simulations of basic cells with periodic boundary conditions (PBC). Firstly, a calibration for elastic properties is explained.
