This work proposes a management scheme (CASM), developed around the cellular automata (CA), to reduce the energy consumption at nodes of a sensor network. Each node of the network is assumed to be equipped with CA machine which controls the decision on its state transition (active/standby) at different time, avoiding communication with its neighbors, and thereby optimizes the power consumption.
