Bundle gerbes and the Weyl map

  title={Bundle gerbes and the Weyl map},
  author={Kimberly E. Becker},
  journal={arXiv: Differential Geometry},
This masters thesis reviews bundle gerbe theory and the well-known basic bundle gerbe over SU(n). We introduce the cup product bundle gerbe, and show it is stably isomorphic to the pullback of the basic bundle gerbe by the Weyl map. This result enriches our understanding of the basic bundle gerbe, which has numerous applications in physics.

The Geometry of Bundle Gerbes
This thesis reviews the theory of bundle gerbes and then examines the higher dimensional notion of a bundle 2-gerbe. The notion of a bundle 2-gerbe connection and 2-curving are introduced and it is
Equivariant bundle gerbes
We develop the theory of simplicial extensions for bundle gerbes and their characteristic classes with a view towards studying descent problems and equivariance for bundle gerbes. Equivariant bundle
Constructions with bundle gerbes
This thesis develops the theory of bundle gerbes and examines a number of useful constructions in this theory. These allow us to gain a greater insight into the structure of bundle gerbes and related
Bundle Gerbes: Stable Isomorphism and Local Theory
The notion of stable isomorphism of bundle gerbes is considered. It has the consequence that the stable isomorphism classes of bundle gerbes over a manifold M are in bijective correspondence with
Twisted K-Theory and K-Theory of Bundle Gerbes
Abstract: In this note we introduce the notion of bundle gerbe K-theory and investigate the relation to twisted K-theory. We provide some examples. Possible applications of bundle gerbe K-theory to
An introduction to bundle gerbes
An introduction to the theory of bundle gerbes and their relationship to Hitchin-Chatterjee gerbes is presented. Topics covered are connective structures, triviality and stable isomorphism as well as
We reconsider the role that bundle gerbes play in the formulation of the WZW model on closed and open surfaces. In particular, we show how an analysis of bundle gerbes on groups covered by SU(N)

Bundle gerbes
Just as C principal bundles provide a geometric realisation of two-dimensional integral cohomology; gerbes or sheaves of groupoids, provide a geometric realisation of three dimensional integral
