}Research has been carried out in the town area of Milan on 275 subjects. For each patient the following data have been measured: ventilatory profile, aspecific bronchial reactivity, arterial concentration in CO and acid-base balance. The results obtained have been divided into four groups, according to the level of SO2 in the area of residence of the subjects, who have also been studied with reference to the habit of smoking. The data obtained have shown (1) an alteration of the ventilatory…

Bronchial responsiveness in children exposed to atmospheric pollution in Hong Kong.
- MedicineChest
- 1994
The results demonstrate that studies on bronchial responsiveness can be used to assess the effects of air quality on the respiratory health of children and will be employed to measure the impact of new air quality control measures in Hong Kong.
Brain iron accumulation in unexplained fetal and infant death victims with smoker mothers-The possible involvement of maternal methemoglobinemia
- Medicine, BiologyBMC pediatrics
- 2011
The free iron deposition in the brain of sudden fetal and infant death victims could be a catabolic product of maternal methemoglobinemia, a biomarker of oxidative stress likely due to nicotine absorption.

Serum antielastase and neutrophil elastase levels in PiM phenotype cigarette smokers with airflow obstruction.
- Medicine, BiologyRespiration; international review of thoracic diseases
- 1985
Blood factors which might explain why some cigarette smokers develop airflow obstruction while others do not are assessed and imbalances of circulating elastase or antielastase levels in PiM phenotype smokers with airflow obstruction are not found.
Histamine log(dose)-response curves in asthmatics. A comparison between the Wiesbadener Doppelinhalator and the De Vilbiss Model 645 nebulizer.
- MedicineRespiration; international review of thoracic diseases
- 1985
In 9 asthmatic patients log(dose)-response curves were obtained on 4 successive days with the Wiesbadener Doppelinhalator (WDI) and the De Vilbiss (De V) 645 nebulizer, respectively, and a significantly greater sensitivity was found for the De V neBulizer.
Increased serum copper in primary pulmonary hypertension: a possible pathogenic link?
- MedicineRespiration; international review of thoracic diseases
- 1985
The mean serum copper level was significantly higher in patients with pulmonary hypertension, indicating that increased serum copper may be a cause or a marker of this entity.
