We combine observed metallicity, optical, and infrared magnitudes with evolutionary and pulsation models to derive average luminosities for 156 single-mode RR Lyrae stars. These luminosities are compared with those obtained from the Gaia EDR3 parallaxes and are found to be in excellent agreement with the high accuracy subsample (62 stars, with relative parallax errors of less than 2%). With the temperature and metallicity scale used, no parallax shift seems to be necessary when α-enhanced… Expand

Probing galactic double-mode RR Lyrae stars against Gaia EDR3
Context. Classical double-mode pulsators (RR Lyrae stars and δ Cepheids) are important for their simultaneous pulsation in low-order radial modes. This enables us to put stringent constraints onExpand
A Detailed Analysis of Double-Mode RR Lyrae Stars: Further Support for a Brighter Luminosity Scale
In order to derive the physical parameters of double-mode RR Lyrae stars in the Galactic globular clusters M15, M68, and IC4499, we fully utilize all observables (periods, apparent magnitudes, andExpand
The chemical compositions of variable field horizontal-branch stars: RR Lyrae stars
We present a detailed abundance study of 11 RR Lyrae ab-type variables: AS Vir, BS Aps, CD Vel, DT Hya, RV Oct, TY Gru, UV Oct, V1645 Sgr, WY Ant, XZ Aps, and Z Mic. High-resolution and highExpand
The composition of HB stars : RR Lyrae variables
We used moderately high-resolution, high S/N spectra to study the chemical composition of 10 field ab-type RR Lyrae stars. A new temperature scale was determined from literature Infrared Flux MethodExpand
THE chemical compositions of RR lyrae type C variable stars
We present a detailed chemical abundance study of eight RR Lyrae variable stars of subclass c (RRc). The target RRc stars chosen for study exhibit "Blazhko-effect" period and amplitude modulations toExpand
Metal Abundances, Radial Velocities, and Other Physical Characteristics for the RR Lyrae Stars in The Kepler Field
Spectroscopic iron-to-hydrogen ratios, radial velocities, atmospheric parameters, and new photometric analyses are presented for 41 RR Lyrae stars (and one probable high-amplitude δ Sct star) locatedExpand
Abundances of 23 field RR Lyrae stars
We present stellar parameters and abundances of 15 elements (Na, Mg, Al, Si, Ca, Sc, Ti, V, Cr, Mn, Fe, Ni, Cu, Y and Ba) for 23 field RR Lyrae variables based on high-resolution ( R ~ 60 000) andExpand
First stars - XIII. Two extremely metal-poor RR Lyrae stars
Context. The chemical composition of extremely metal-poor stars (EMP stars; [Fe/H] < ∼− 3) is a unique tracer of early nucleosynthesis in the Galaxy. As such stars are rare, we wish to find classesExpand
The Absolute Magnitude and Kinematics of RR Lyrae Stars via Statistical Parallax
We present new statistical parallax solutions for the absolute magnitude and kinematics of RR Lyrae stars. We have combined new proper motions from the Lick Northern Proper Motion program with newExpand
The RRC Stars: Chemical Abundances and Envelope Kinematics
We analyzed series of spectra obtained for twelve stable RRc stars observed with the echelle spectro- graph of the du Pont telescope at Las Campanas Observatory and we analyzed the spectra of RRcExpand
