Using stereoelectron microscopy, cross-links or bridges are clearly visualized between 10-nm neurofilaments and microtubules in the intact axon of Loligo pealei . There is an average periodicity of about 40 nm. Both neurofilament to neurofilament and microtubule to microtubule bridges are seen.
