The culture of okra, although little known, exhibits an interesting trade in relation to other vegetable crops. This is mainly due to its sensorial and nutritional qualities. However, despite their importance, there are still almost no breeding programs aimed at obtaining superior genotypes. Much of this is due to complications in the use of breeding methods for this culture.
