Homogenized tissue from the frontal cortex of normal human brains obtained at postmortem examination was used to absorb lymphocytotoxic antibody from the serum of six patients with systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE). Four absorptions of all of the SLE sera with equal volumes of homogenized brain tissue at 4 degrees C depleted their cytotoxic capacity more than 90%. Three of the six sera, however, retained some lymphocytotoxicity despite extensive brain absorption. Absorbed lymphocytotoxic…
Lymphocytotoxic antibody activity in cryoprecipitates from serum of patients with SLE.
TLDR
Findings cast doubt upon the pathogenetic significance of cryoprecipitable lymphocytotoxic antibody.
Brain Synaptosomal Antibodies in Systemic Lupus Erythematosus
TLDR
Sera from SLE patients contain antibodies to synaptosomal antigens that may contribute to the neuropsychiatric manifestations of the disease, according to the aim of the present study.
An antineuronal antibody cross-reacting with erythrocytes and lymphocytes in systemic lupus erythematosus.
TLDR
An antibody with erythrocyte and lymphocyte activity, present in the sera of patients with systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE), demonstrated additional reactivity with neurons, which may be of value in the diagnosis and management of neuropsychiatric complications.
Antineuronal antibodies in neuropsychiatric systemic lupus erythematosus.
TLDR
Analysis of serum reactivity using non-neuronal cell lines revealed that neuroblastoma, but not glioblastoma, cell binding was specific, and NP-SLE patients with evidence of diffuse symptomatology had a higher mean titer of Neuroblastoma cell line binding than those with focal symptom atology.
Systemic lupus erythematosus patients with central nervous system involvement show autoantibodies to a 50-kD neuronal membrane protein
TLDR
The data suggest that the 50-kD protein may be an important target for autoantibodies, preponderantly found in CNS-SLE patients, and that the antigen may play a role in the pathogenesis of some neurological manifestations in SLE.
Association of IgG anti-brain antibodies with central nervous system dysfunction in systemic lupus erythematosus.
TLDR
Sera from 20 patients with systemic lupus erythematosus and active central nervous system dysfunction were examined by indirect immunofluorescence for antibodies to neuronal membrane determinants, suggesting a predominant brain-specificity for IgG antibodies and partial lymphocyte cross-reactivity for IgM antibodies.
Erythrocyte rosette inhibition as an assay for naturally occurring T lymphocytotoxic antibody in systemic lupus erythematosus.
TLDR
By means of a modified sheep erythrocyte rosette inhibition assay, naturally occurring lymphocytotoxic antibodies in sera from patients with systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) are detected.

Lymphocyte Cytotoxic Antibodies in Systemic Lupus Erythematosus
TLDR
The results suggest that lymphocytotoxic antibodies develop during the course of systemic lupus erythematosus.

TLDR
It is concluded that the sera of patients with schizophrenia contain antibodies against thymic antigens localized on thymocytes and thymus-derived lymphocytes.
Analyses of lymphocytes from patients with rheumatoid arthritis and systemic lupus erythematosus. Occurrence of interfering cold-reactive antilymphocyte antibodies.
TLDR
Evidence was obtained for the existence of a major joint fluid lymphocyte population that lacked all assayed surface markers in rheumatoid arthritis and systemic lupus erythematosus.
Antibodies against cell membrane constituents in systemic lupus erythematosus and related diseases. I. Cytotoxic effect of serum from patients with systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) for allogeneic and for autologous lymphocytes.
TLDR
Cytotoxicity of SLE serums for both allogeneic and autologous lymphocytes was complement dependent and could be specifically absorbed with reactive lymphocytes, suggesting that the factor responsible for cytotoxicity was an antibody.
Nature of cold-reactive antibodies to lymphocyte surface determinants in systemic lupus erythematosus.
TLDR
Sera from patients with systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE), as detected by microcytotoxicity and indirect immunofluorescence, were predominantly cold reactive and of the IgM class, and the functional significance of these antilymphocyte antibodies is discussed.
Lymphotoxic activity in multiple sclerosis serum
TLDR
The frequency and variation of lymphotoxic phenomena in patients with MS is described and an account of the biochemical features of the phenomenon has been reported.
Relative T-cell specificity of lymphocytotoxins from patients with systemic lupus erythematosus.
TLDR
T-cell specificity of lymphoctotoxic antibodies in SLE is suggested, with marked decreased reactivity of the SLE sera with CLL lymphocytes and marked increased reactivity with fetal thymic cells as compared to controls.
Natural cytotoxic autoantibody against thymocytes in NZB mice.
TLDR
Natural thymocytotoxic autoantibody in NZB mice was an IgM-globulin as determined by sensitivity to 2-mercaptoethanol treatment and by Sephadex G-200 column chromatography in contrast to other natural antibodies (antinuclear, antierythrocyte and G antibodies) of IgG- globulin class.
