In the paraventricular nucleus of the hypothalamus (PVN), experimental stress paradigms that suppress gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA) inputs to parvocellular neuroendocrine cells (PNCs) also increase the expression of brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF).
