title={Brachyuran crabs diversity in Mudasal Odai and Nagapattinam coast of south east India},
  author={Kollimalai Sakthivel and Antony Fernando},
The brachyuran crabs diversity studied from Mudasal Odai (Lat.11°29'N; Long.79°46'E) and Nagapattinam (Lat.10°46'N; Long.79°59'E) coast of Tamil Nadu, south east India. We recorded 34 species, 15 genera and 7 families in Mudasal Odai and 31 species, 15 genera and 7 families in Nagapattinam coast. The most diverse families are Portunidae (17 species in Mudasal Odai, 15 species in Nagapattinam), and Leucosiidae (5 species in Mudasal Odai, 4 species in Nagapattinam). Out of 15 genera, Charybdis… Expand

Species Diversity and Abundance of Marine Crabs (Portunidae: Decapoda) from a Collapsible Crab Trap Fishery at Kung Krabaen Bay, Chanthaburi Province, Thailand.
The results revealed that Kung Krabaen Bay serves as the home to many marine crab species; however, 49% of the harvested crabs were simply discarded and subsequently died, and the research noted that eight non-target species will become target species in the near future. Expand
Annotated check list of the brachyuran crabs (Crustacea: Decapoda) from Gulf of Mannar region, south east coast of India
The check list of brachyuran crabs studied from Therespuram, Vellapatti, Vethalai, Periyapattinam coast of Gulf of Mannar, south east coast of India. These landing centers show the maximum crabExpand
Biodiversity and ecological considerations of brachyuran crabs (Crustacea: Decapoda) from Devi estuary–mangrove region on the east coast of India
Abstract Despite high proportion of shell fisheries for livelihood and food security, documentation of brachyuran crabs from Devi estuary, east coast of India, recognized as ‘arribada’ of OliveExpand
Harpacticoida (Copepoda) in the plankton of Ushuaia and Golondrina Bays, Beagle Channel, Argentina
Abstract Harpacticoid copepods form a diverse and abundant group of the meiofauna in marine benthic habitats. Moreover, harpacticoids are frequently found in planktonic samples particularly inExpand
Recurrence of a marine brachyuran crab, Parapanope euagora (Crustacea: Decapoda: Brachyura: Galenidae) from East Coast of India
From the results, after more than ten decades, the species, Parapanope euagora has reappeared in Indian coast revealing its possible, continued existence in Indian waters. Expand
New records of two Leucosiid crabs (Crustacea: Decapoda: Leucosiidae) from Gujarat coast, India
The occurrence of two leucosiid crabs species, Leucisca squalina and Ryphila cancellus, from Gujarat, west coast of India for the first time are reported. Expand
Diversity indices and distribution of brachyuran crabs found in the lagoon waters of Sonmiani, Balochistan
A total of 8 species of Brachyuran crabs was recorded, crabs belong to the family Portunidae were dominant and represented by 6 species. Portunus pelagicus and Portunus sanguinolentus were foundExpand
Multi-cluster analysis of Crabs and Ichthyofaunal Diversity in relation to habitat distribution at Tropical Mangrove ecosystem of the Indian Sundarbans
Abstract Mangroves have enormous ecological significance and socio-economic importance as promising hub for tropical marine and estuarine biotope. Therefore, mangroves are considered one of theExpand
Temporal changes in brachyuran crab diversity along heterogeneous habitat in a mangrove ecosystem of Indian Sundarbans
Canonical correspondence analysis showed that the total acidity, total alkalinity, pH content of water, total dissolved solids, inorganic phosphate content ofWater, soil specific gravity, soil density and the physical constructions of the habitat play a crucial role in moderating the crab community structure. Animal associates of zoanthidsPalythoa mutuki and Zoanthus sansibaricus of Lawson’s Bay rocky shores of Visakhapatnam were recorded in the present study. P. mutuki and Z. sansibaricus were foundExpand

Biodiversity of brachyuran crabs (Crustacea: Decapoda) from non-consolidated sublittoral bottom on the northern coast of São Paulo State, Brazil
The number of species collected represents about 57% of the known species of crabs already reported for the shore of São Paulo State, which indicates a great biodiversity of the habitat in this studied region, probably one to the diversity of habitat types present in the bays. Expand
Shallow-water anomuran and brachyuran crabs (Crustacea: Decapoda) from southern Bahia, Brazil.
The objective of this study was to determine the taxonomic composition and ecological aspects of decapod crustacean species belonging to the infraorders Anomura and Brachyura in shallow marine andExpand
Brachyuran crab diversity in natural (Pitchavaram) and artificially developed mangroves (Vellar estuary)
The brachyuran crab diversity was studied in four stations of Pitchavaram mangroves and three stations of VellarMangroves to find out how much time it will take for the remaining species to get established and how much monitoring of brachuran Crab diversity may provide the answer. Expand
Diversity and habitat preference of brachyuran crabs in Gulf of Kutch, Gujarat, India
The biodiversity of Gulf of Kutch is studied well with special reference to scleretinia and mollusca but the brachyuran crab taxa are rather neglected. Gulf of Kutch is very rich in floral and faunalExpand
