It has been postulated that membrane traffic in polarized epithelial cells requires both actin filaments and microtubules. We have tested this hypothesis by analyzing the effect of cytochalasin D (cytoD; an actin-disrupting agent), by itself or in combination with nocodazole (a microtubule depolymerizing agent), on postendocytic traffic in Madin-Darby canine kidney cells.
