OBJECTIVE To investigate prostate cancer-related genes and lncRNAs by using a high throughput sequencing dataset. MATERIALS AND METHODS RNA-seq data were obtained from the sequencing read archive database, including both benign and malignant tumor samples. After aligning the RNA-seq reads to human genome reference, gene expression profile as well as lncRNA expression profile was obtained. Next, student's t-test was used to screen both the differentially expressed genes (DEGs) and lncRNAs…

Figures and Tables from this paper

Identification and functional characterization of long non-coding RNAs in human gastric cancer.
TLDR
The results suggest that the lncRNAs RP5-919F19, LOC101928316, CTD-2541M15, UCA1 and MEG3 are closely associated with the invasion and metastasis of GC, which reveals these indicators as potential specificity biomarkers for the diagnosis, prognosis and classification of GC.
SP1-induced up-regulation of lncRNA LUCAT1 promotes proliferation, migration and invasion of cervical cancer by sponging miR-181a
TLDR
It was confirmed that LUCAT1 acted as an up-regulated lncRNA by analyzing the data from GCTA dataset and RT-PCR in both CC tissues and cell lines and showed that TINCR overexpression is induced by nuclear transcription factor SP1, which exerts an oncogenic function in CC by binding to miR-181a.
Prognostic significance of overexpressed long non-coding RNA TUG1 in patients with clear cell renal cell carcinoma.
TLDR
Findings suggested that TUG1 may act as a tumor promoter in ccRCC and could serve as a potential therapeutic target for this tumor.
Role of HDAC1 in the progression of gastric cancer and the correlation with lncRNAs
TLDR
It was demonstrated that HDAC1 is involved in the promotion of GC cell proliferation, possibly by upregulating the expression of the lncRNAs, BC01600 and AF116637, in the tissues of patients with GC, and indicated thatHDAC1 may be a promising target for the clinical treatment of GC.
MicroRNA-125a-5p regulates cancer cell proliferation and migration through NAIF1 in prostate carcinoma
TLDR
In vivo prostate xenograft assay confirmed the tumor-suppressive effect of miR-125a-5p downregulation or NAIF1 overexpression on the growth of in vivo prostate cancer Xenograft were evaluated.
Up-regulation of long non-coding RNA BCAR4 predicts a poor prognosis in patients with osteosarcoma, and promotes cell invasion and metastasis.

TLDR
The results of the present study identified a crucial tumor promotive role of BCAR4 in the progression of osteosarcoma, and suggested thatBCAR4 may be a potential therapeutic agent for the treatment of osteOSarcomA.
BCAR4 increase cisplatin resistance and predicted poor survival in gastric cancer patients.
TLDR
It was shown that BCAR4 was closely related with the cisplatin-resistant gastric cancer, which might be a promising target for treating gastriccancer and improving the efficiency of chemotherapeutic drugs.
RNA sequencing as a powerful tool in searching for genes influencing health and performance traits of horses
TLDR
The presented review summarizes the achievements of profiling gene expression in horses (Equus caballus) and confirmed that horses can be useful as a large animal model for human disease, especially in the field of immune response.
Anticancer effect of docetaxel induces apoptosis of prostate cancer via the cofilin-1 and paxillin signaling pathway.
TLDR
It is demonstrated that the anticancer effect of docetaxel induces the apoptosis of prostate cancer via the suppression of the cofilin‑1 and paxillin signaling pathways, which will assist in setting a stage for the clinical treatment of prostatecancer.

Induced Chromosomal Proximity and Gene Fusions in Prostate Cancer
TLDR
It is shown that androgen signaling induces proximity of the TMPRSS2 and ERG genomic loci, both located on chromosome 21q22.2, which may help explain why TMPR SS2-ERG fusions are restricted to the prostate, which is dependent on androgens signaling.
