On the whole, the volume includes very interesting articles, though not adequate attention is paid by some to the issues concerning urban poverty. Since the percentage share of urban poverty in total national poverty is usually lower than its rural counterpart in most of the countries, the subject of urban poverty has been treated with less seriousness not only by the scholars but the policy makers also. The volume mainly argues in favour of the redistributive measures as mentioned above. But…
