In the Armenian SSR the new style of the Roman calendar has been in effect since 1920, the year of the establishment of Soviet power in the country. This was followed by a decree issued in 1924 by the Supreme Patriarch of all Armenians (the katholikos) that recognized the new style of the Roman calendar as the official calendar of the Armenian church.
