1. By using intravenously injected [14C]labelled epinephrine, it was demonstrated that, in contrast to mammals, catecholamines are able to cross blood-brain barrier in fish. 2. The concentration of [14C]labelled compounds in extracellular fluid was about 25% of that measured in plasma. 3. According to these results, a direct action of plasma catecholamines on fish brain centers for the regulation of physiological functions may be proposed.
