Resume Using the concept of an operator contracting with respect to a vector norm, the author presents results on the convergence of linear iterations. A matrix A is said to be block- H matrix with respect to a vector norm p if the corresponding block-Jacobi Jacobi matrix is contracting with respect to p . This is a natural extension of the class of H matrices defined by Ostrowski.
