The cellular function of folliculin (FLCN) is a mystery that still needs to be solved. It is known that mutation of FLCN can predispose Birt–Hogg–Dubé (BHD) patient’s to renal cell carcinoma , renal and lung cysts, as well as skin fibrofolliculomas.
