For past 3.5 years 2168 cases of the esophagoscopy have been examined in our clinic. In these 832 cases have been biopsied through the esophagoscope at the same time. The cases of esophageal cancer occupied 41% and the ones of the esophagitis and pos topera t ion of the esophagus were in each about 20%. Complications of the biopsy, such as bleeding and rupture, have been never experienced. Moreover, the effect to the cancer has been never seen. All of the wounds of the biopsy could be seen as the small ulcer with white coat after 3 days. After 7 days, the ulcer became epithelized and could be seen as the red patches. And 14 days later, all of the patches disappeared. But one of them could be seen as the white scar after one month. As the biopsy-forceps through the Jackson's metal scope, we have used the 45~ ones 2.8mm• in diameter. All specimens could be gained as the depth of the lamina muscularis mucosae. But through the esophagofiberscope, the more difficult position has been experienced in the mid esophagus. To this position we have used the newly deviced biopsy-forceps with needle, being able to bend up to 60 ~ freely. Endoscopically some studies of the esophageal cancer, esophagitis and the lower part of the esophagus were reported with color slides.
