A quantitative investigation into the mechanism of neutrophil phagocytosis of opsonized microspheres possessing well defined dimensions was undertaken. Three aspects were documented: membrane conservation, cell adhesion to the spheres, and active cell cytoplasmic projection around the microspheres.
