This study shows, for the first time, evidence of the existence of the acupuncture meridian structure in the human body. After moxibustion (or similar light stimulation) of the body in the 3-5 microm range, "light channels" appear on the body, which appear to be identical to what are known as meridians in all textbooks of Traditional Chinese Medicine. These findings appear not only to confirm the existence of acupuncture meridians, but they also open a new window on understanding the energy…

Wave-Induced Flow in Meridians Demonstrated Using Photoluminescent Bioceramic Material on Acupuncture Points
TLDR
The noninvasive PLB technique was applied to acupuncture point irradiation, attempting to detect its effects by using electrical conductivity measurements, and searching for information on meridians including their wave-induced flow characteristics found.
Infrared Analytics For Visualization Of Stimulation- Induced Meridian-Like Structures?: First Simultaneous, Acupuncture-Specific Thermographic Monitoring At Different Wavelengths
TLDR
Evidence for the existence of acupuncture-specific, meridian-like artifacts in 6 healthy volunteers is analyzed, for the first time, and these structures are not identical to those defined as meridians in existing Traditional Chinese Medicine textbooks.
Appearance of human meridian-like structure and acupoints and its time correlation by infrared thermal imaging.
TLDR
The findings support the view that infrared radiant tracks along human meridian courses is a normal vital and physiological phenomenon appearing in human beings and offer a potential method for noninvasive diagnostic by studying the physiological function and pathological change of meridians or acupoints by means of thermography.
Laser acupuncture causes thermal changes in small intestine meridian pathway
TLDR
The use of thermographic images to document the changes on the small intestine meridian when submitted to laser acupuncture proved the existence of the S.I.M.M., distal, and proximal at the same time.

Thermography of Laser Treatment at Zusanli Acupuncture Point
TLDR
The obtained results demonstrate that laseropuncture in IR spectrum shows the existence of the "light channel" in the body that correspond to the acupuncture meridians.
Infrared thermography fails to visualize stimulation-induced meridian-like structures
TLDR
Evidence for the existence of acupuncture-specific, meridian-like artifacts in 6 healthy volunteers is analyzed and different structures appear on thermographic images of the human body which are technical artifacts and which are not identical to what are known as meridians in all textbooks of TCM.
Visible Meridian Phenomena after Acupuncture: A Series of Case Reports.
TLDR
It is indicated that visible meridian phenomena following acupuncture are objective, albeit rare, findings that coincide with the acupuncture channels described in the classical works of TCM.

The pattern of light transmitted longitudinally through a tissue is dependent on the angle at which the light intercepts the side of the tissue and is strongly influenced by the tissue geometry.

TLDR
It is hardly probable that acupuncture theory, although dating back to ancient times, could have originated in primitive civilization, and the origin of the energy channel theory does not fit into the traditional developmental scheme.
