A new biomimetic nanostructured electrocatalyst comprised of a self-assembled monolayer (SAM) of flavin covalently attached to Au by reaction of methylformylisoalloxazine with chemisorbed cysteamine is introduced. Examinations by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy and scanning tunneling microscopy (STM) show that the flavin molecules are oriented perpendicular to the surface with a 2 nm separation between flavin molecules. As a result of the contrast observed in the STM profiles between…

Efficient chemisorption of organophosphorous redox probes on indium tin oxide surfaces under mild conditions.
It is shown that organophosphorus compounds can adsorb much more strongly and stably on an ITO surface than analogous redox-active molecules bearing a carboxylate or a boronate moiety, and the surface coverage of the chemisorbed molecules is highly affected by the degree of surface hydroxylation.

Self-assembled monolayers of thiols and dithiols on gold: new challenges for a well-known system.
The nature of the molecule-gold interface, whose chemistry and structure remain elusive, the self-assembly process on planar and irregular surfaces, and on nanometre-sized objects, and the chemical reactivity and thermal stability of these systems in ambient and aqueous solutions are reviewed.
Redox molecule based SERS sensors.
It is shown that multiple sample spectroscopic ellipsometry gives access to the spectral dependence of the optical constants of single redox-molecule layers, and through it to the electronic resonances of the system.
Chiral and random arrangements of flavin chromophores along cyclic peptide nanotubes on gold influencing differently on surface potential and piezoelectricity
Two kinds of peptide nanotubes are prepared from cyclo(β-Asp(flavin)-β-alanine-β-alanine) (C3FAA) and cyclo(β-Asp(flavin)-ethylenediamine-succinic acid) (C3FES). The flavin chromophores are
Tuning the reactivity of nanostructured indium tin oxide electrodes toward chemisorption.
This contribution highlights correlation between the surface concentration of a chemisorbed organophosphorous probe (flavin mononucleotide) and the relative hydroxyl surface coverage of
