PURPOSE To analyse the biomechanical characteristics of locking plates under cyclic loading compared to a nonlocking plate in a diaphyseal metacarpal fracture. METHODS Oblique diaphyseal shaft fractures in porcine metacarpal bones were created in a biomechanical fracture model.
