Summary Viscum album is an evergreen, perennial, epiphytic, hemiparasitic shrub that lives on a wide range of woody plant species. It is native to Europe and is a known pathogen, a pharmaceutical plant, and a symbol in mythology. This article reviews the taxonomy, morphology, ecology, population biology, genetics, chemistry and physiology of this taxon.
