The Clambidae are an obscure family of minute, convex beetles with strongly deflexed heads and the ability to roll into a ball when disturbed. Five genera and approximately 70 species have been described worldwide (Young 2002). Three genera and 12 species are reported from North America north of Mexico (Grigarick and Schuster 1961; Endrody-Yöunga 1981).
