After a long period of collecting empirical data describing the changes in organisms, organs, tissues, cells, and macromolecules, biogerontological research is now able to develop various possibilities for intervention. Because aging is a stochastic and nondeterministic process characterized by a progressive failure of maintenance and repair, it is reasoned that gene involved in homeodynamic repair pathways are the most likely candidate gerontogenes.
