Biogeoenergetic description of soils in natural landscapes of Georgia

Abstract

Energy consumed for soil formation and efficiency of solar energy utilization have been comparatively evaluated for various soil types in natural landscapes of Georgia. Soil formation proved to consume 16–87% of energy of the radiation balance at the surface, while cyclic biological processes consumed 0.162–1.344 kcal/(cm2 year).
