Summary Seventeen drugs which demonstrated in vitro inhibitory activity against an oxidative system for the conversion of orotic acid to the uridine nucleotides were retested against a nonoxidative system. The 5-bromo, 5-chloro and 5-fluoro analogs of orotic acid were demonstrated to produce single or multiple blocking actions against this system.
Chemotherapeutic inhibitors of the enzymes of the de novo pyrimidine pathway.
Inhibitors of the Orotate Pathway
Antagonists of purine and pyrimidine metabolites and of folic acid.
