A genetic polymorphism of beta-chain rabbit (Oryctolagus cuniculus) hemoglobin is demonstrated by means of acid starch gel electrophoresis. The biochemical evidence presented suggests that a previously reported substitution of a neutral amino acid for a histidine is responsible for the detected genetic variation.
