A green house experiment was carried out to study the effect of nitrogen enriched biochar on the growth of maize and the efficiency of nitrogen fertilization. Maize was planted in soils with different soil texture (sandy, loamy, and clay) and applied with: (i) Non biochar, (ii) biochar, (iii) Biochar enriched with ammonium sulfate, (iv) biochar enriched with nitrate acid. These 12 treatments combinations were arranged in a fully randomized design with 3 replications. The result showed that in…

Effect of Biochar Prepared from Food Waste through Different Thermal Treatment Processes on Crop Growth
Biochar is generally accepted and increasingly valued in scientific circles as solid products in the thermochemical conversion of biomass, mainly because of its rich carbon content. The purpose of

The Effect of Biochar on the Growth and N Fertilizer Requirement of Maize (Zea mays L.) in Green House Experiment
Greenhouse experiments were carried out to study the effect of biochar and other organic amendment (Chicken Manure, CM; and City waste compost, CW) using on the growth and N fertilizer requirement of
Contrasted Effects of Biochar on Maize Growth and N Use Efficiency Depending on Soil Conditions
Abstract Biochar amendment may improve crop growth through its nutrients and indirect fertility. However, this improvement varies in a wide range of biochars, crops, and soils. Our objectives were to
Soil fertility status, nutrient uptake, and maize (Zea mays L.) yield following biochar and cattle manure application on sandy soils of Lombok, Indonesia.
A field study was conducted to evaluate the effects of biochar application on soil fertility status, nutrient uptake, and maize yield in the sandy soils of semiarid Lombok, Indonesia during the rainy
Effects of biochar and crop residues application on chemical properties of a degraded soil of South Malang, and P uptake by maize
Low productivity of food crops on marginal dry lands of South Malang, East Java occurs due to low levels of soil fertility in the region due to low soil organic matter content and low content of
Agronomic values of greenwaste biochar as a soil amendment
A pot trial was carried out to investigate the effect of biochar produced from greenwaste by pyrolysis on the yield of radish (Raphanus sativus var. Long Scarlet) and the soil quality of an Alfisol.
Rice Husk Biochar for Rice Based Cropping System in Acid Soil 1. The Characteristics of Rice Husk Biochar and Its Influence on the Properties of Acid Sulfate Soils and Rice Growth in West Kalimantan, Indonesia
Only soil carbon, phosphorus, exchangeable Al, soluble Fe, and soil strength significantly influenced rice biomass in the experiments carried out to study the characteristics of biochar made from rice husk and its potential as a soil amendment in acid soils.
Biochar Effect on Maize Yield and Soil Characteristics in Five Conservation Farming Sites in Zambia
Biochar addition to agricultural soils can improve soil fertility, with the added bonus of climate change mitigation through carbon sequestration. Conservation farming (CF) is precision farming,
Biochar application to temperate soils: effects on nutrient uptake and crop yield under field conditions
The benefits of biochar (BC) application to fertile, non-acidic soils in temperate climate regions might not always be as evident as for highly weathered tropical soils. The aim of our study was to
Yield stability of cassava (Manihot esculenta Crantz) planted in intercropping system after 3 years of biochar application.
Field experiment was carried out to study the yield stability of cassava planted in cassava + peanuts intercropping systems after 3 years of biochar application was carried out from September 2009 to
