Fifty cyanobacterial strains from different habitats(symbioses, soil, fresh and marine waters) belongingto the genus Nostoc were cultured and tested forbioactivity. Thirty-seven strains were isolated in ourlaboratory, the remaining were supplied by officialculture collections. All the organisms were grownunder controlled laboratory conditions.
