BACKGROUND/AIMS After a distal resection of the stomach, the continuity of the gastrointestinal tract can be restored by either a gastroduodenal anastomosis (Billroth I), a gastrojejunal anastomosis (Billroth II) or a Roux-en-Y gastrojejunostomy.
