}Three-dimensional (3D) magnetic resonance (MR) projection imaging was evaluated as a noninvasive alternative to direct cholangiography in 12 patients with malignancy-related obstructive jaundice. The 3D images of the bile ducts were formed by subjecting consecutive coronal MR images obtained with a fast imaging method to a maximum-intensity projection algorithm. Dilatation and obstruction of the biliary system were well documented in all cases, and good correlation between findings at 3D MR…

Three patients with obstructive jaundice who underwent magnetic resonance imaging of the liver were studied, and magnetic resonance cholangiography images compare favorably with those acquired on scanners in which special breath-holding gradient echo protocols are used.
Computed tomographic cholangiography using spiral scanning and 3D image processing.

Volumetric computed tomography scans ("spiral CT") were performed after intravenous (i.v.) cholangiography followed by additional 3D surface reconstructions of gallbladder and biliary ducts and sufficient contrast was found in the common bile duct.

MR cholangiography is a reliable imaging technique for the examination of patients with biliary-enteric anastomoses and correctly showed bile duct irregularities in six of the eight patients with cholangsitis and anastOMotic strictures in all 19 patients with strictures.

Respiratory-triggered, multislab, three-dimensional turbo spin-echo MR cholangiopancreatography is a noninvasive technique for visualization of the pancreatic and biliary ductal systems and should be the technique of choice when invasive techniques are incomplete, unsuccessful, or technically difficult.

End-expiration, 21-second breath-hold, three-dimensional magnetic resonance (MR) cholangiopancreatography (MRCP) was developed with segmented echo-planar imaging and clear depiction of biliary, hepatic, and pancreatic ducts was possible with good signal-to-noise ratio.
