A bstractWe study the holographic dual of a (2 + 1)-dimensional s-wave superfluid that breaks an abelian U(1) × U(1) global symmetry group to the diagonal U(1)V. The model is inspired by Sen’s tachyonic action, and the operator that condenses transforms in the bifundamental representation of the symmetry group. We focus on two configurations: the first one describes a marginal operator, and the phase diagram at finite temperature contains a first or a second order phase transition, depending on…

On holographic disorder-driven metal-insulator transitions

A bstractWe give a minimal holographic model of a disorder-driven metal-insulator transition. It consists in a CFT with a charge sector and a translation-breaking sector that interact in the most

Noisy branes

A bstractWe study the effects of disorder on strongly coupled compressible matter in 2+1 dimensions. Our system consists of a D3/D5 intersection at finite temperature and in the presence of a

Introduction to holographic superconductor models

In the last years it has been shown that some properties of strongly coupled superconductors can be potentially described by classical general relativity living in one higher dimension, which is

Thermodynamic Properties of Holographic superfluids

Using the holographic model for spontaneous symmetry breaking, we study some properties of the dual superfluid such as the thermodynamic exponents, Joule-Thomson coefficient, compressibility etc. Our

Solution-generating transformations in duality-invariant theories and the fluid/gravity correspondence

We explore dualities and solution-generating transformations in various contexts. Our focus is on the T-duality invariant form of supergravity known as double field theory, the SL(5)-invariant

Unbalanced holographic superconductors and spintronics

A bstractWe present a minimal holographic model for s-wave superconductivity with unbalanced Fermi mixtures, in 2 + 1 dimensions at strong coupling. The breaking of a U(1)A “charge” symmetry is

Holographic superuidity in imbalanced mixtures

We construct superfluid black hole solutions with two chemical potentials. By analogy with QCD, the two chemical potentials correspond to the baryon and isospin symmetries, respectively. We consider

Towards A Holographic Model of D-Wave Superconductors

The holographic model for S-wave high ${T}_{c}$ superconductors developed by Hartnoll, Herzog, and Horowitz is generalized to describe D-wave superconductors. The $3+1$ dimensional gravitational

On finite-temperature holographic QCD in the Veneziano limit

A bstractHolographic models in the T = 0 universality class of QCD in the limit of large number Nc of colors and Nf massless fermion flavors, but constant ratio xf = Nf/Nc, are analyzed at finite

Quantum phase transitions in holographic models of magnetism and superconductors

We study a holographic model realizing an "antiferromagnetic" phase in which a global SU(2) symmetry representing spin is broken down to a U(1) by the presence of a finite electric charge density.

A holographic model for QCD in the Veneziano limit at finite temperature and density

A bstractA holographic model of QCD in the limit of large number of colors, Nc, and massless fermion flavors, Nf , but constant ratio xf = Nf/Nc is analyzed at finite temperature and chemical

Holographic s +p superconductors

We study the phase diagram of a holographic model realizing a U(2) global symmetry on the boundary and show that at low temperature a phase with both scalar s and vector p condensates exists. This is

Superconductivity from D3/D7: Holographic Pion Superfluid

We show that a D3/D7 system (in the limit of zero quark mass) at finite isospin chemical potential goes through a superconductor (superfluid) like phase transition. This is similar to a flavored

A bstractWe construct a class of bottom-up holographic models with physics comparable to the one expected from QCD in the Veneziano limit of large Nf and Nc with fixed $ x = \frac{{{N_f}}}{{{N_c}}} $

Holographic Superconductors

: It has been shown that a gravitational dual to a superconductor can be obtained by coupling anti-de Sitter gravity to a Maxwell field and charged scalar. We review our earlier analysis of this
