alpha-Synuclein, a neuronal presynaptic protein, has been reported to undergo oligomerization to form toxic Lewy bodies in neurodegenerative disorders. One of the proposed mechanisms for aggregation of alpha-synuclein involves oxidative and nitrative modifications.
