We classify and characterize fully all invertible anomalies and all allowed topo- logical terms related to various Standard Models (SM), Grand Unified Theories (GUT), and Beyond Standard Model (BSM) physics. By all anomalies, we mean the inclusion of (1) perturbative local anomalies captured by perturbative Feynman diagram loop calculations, classified by ℤ free classes, and (2) nonperturbative global anomalies, classified by finite group ℤ N torsion classes. Our work built from [31] fuses the…
Ultra Unification
Strong, electromagnetic, and weak forces were unified in the Standard Model (SM) with spontaneous gauge symmetry breaking. These forces were further conjectured to be unified in a simple Lie group
Anomaly and Cobordism Constraints Beyond Grand Unification: Energy Hierarchy
A recent work [2006.16996] suggests that a 4d nonperturbative global anomaly of mod 16 class hinting a possible new hidden gapped topological sector beyond the Standard Model (SM) and Georgi-Glashow
Anomaly and Cobordism Constraints Beyond Standard Model: Topological Force
Standard lore uses local anomalies to check the kinematic consistency of gauge theories coupled to chiral fermions, e.g. Standard Models (SM). Based on a systematic cobordism classification
Gauge Enhanced Quantum Criticality Beyond the Standard Model
Standard lore ritualizes our quantum vacuum in the 4-dimensional spacetime (4d) governed by one of the candidate Standard Models (SMs), while lifting towards one of Grand Unifications (GUTs) at
Atiyah-Patodi-Singer index theorem from axial anomaly
We give a very simple derivation of the Atiyah-Patodi-Singer (APS) index theorem and its small generalization by using the path integral of massless Dirac fermions. It is based on the Fujikawa’s
Comments on Symmetric Mass Generation in 2d and 4d
Symmetric mass generation is the name given to a mechanism for gapping fermions while preserving a chiral, but necessarily non-anomalous, symmetry. In this paper we describe how symmetric mass
Comments on the Atiyah-Patodi-Singer index theorem, domain wall, and Berry phase
It is known that the Atiyah-Patodi-Singer index can be reformulated as the eta invariant of the Dirac operators with a domain wall mass which plays a key role in the anomaly inflow of the topological
Gauge Enhanced Quantum Criticality Between Grand Unifications: Categorical Higher Symmetry Retraction
Prior work [1] shows that the Standard Model (SM) naturally arises near a gapless quantum critical region between Georgi-Glashow (GG) su(5) and Pati-Salam (PS) su(4) × su(2) × su(2) models of quantum
Global anomalies on the Hilbert space
Abstract We show that certain global anomalies can be detected in an elementary fashion by analyzing the way the symmetry algebra is realized on the torus Hilbert space of the anomalous theory.
Nonperturbative effects in the Standard Model with gauged 1-form symmetry
We study the Standard Model with gauged Z N=2,3,6 subgroups of its Z (1) 6 1-form global symmetry, making the gauge group SU(3)×SU(2)×U(1) ZN . We show that, on a finite T 3, there are self-dual

Dai-Freed anomalies in particle physics
Abstract Anomalies can be elegantly analyzed by means of the Dai-Freed theorem. In this framework it is natural to consider a refinement of traditional anomaly cancellation conditions, which
Generalized global symmetries
A bstractA q-form global symmetry is a global symmetry for which the charged operators are of space-time dimension q; e.g. Wilson lines, surface defects, etc., and the charged excitations have q
Quantum 4d Yang-Mills theory and time-reversal symmetric 5d higher-gauge topological field theory
We explore various 4d Yang-Mills gauge theories (YM) living as boundary conditions of 5d gapped short-/long-range entangled (SRE/LRE) topological states. Specifically, we explore 4d time-reversal
