We report optical, radio and X-ray observations of the Narrow-Line Seyfert 1 galaxy RX J1702.5+3247. The soft (0.1{2 keV) X-ray flux, measured by BeppoSAX, is characterized by strong variability on short time scales (<500 s). The most extreme amplitude variations require a radiative eciency exceeding the maximum for a Kerr black hole, implying the presence of relativistic eects. A comparison with archival ROSAT data reveals long term temporal and spectral variability. The 0.1{10 keV spectrum is… Expand
1WGA J2223.7-0206: A Narrow-Line Quasi-Stellar Object in the XMM-Newton field of view of 3C 445
We report the discovery of a Narrow Line QSO located at about 1.3 from the Broad Line Radio Galaxy 3C 445. The source, 1WGA J2223.7-0206, although already revealed by ROSAT, has never beenExpand
Extreme slim accretion disks and narrow line Seyfert 1 galaxies: The nature of the soft X-ray hump
We present a detailed model of an extreme slim disk (ESD) with a hot corona around a massive black hole with dimensionless accretion rate (m) over dot in the range 2.5 << (m) over dot less than orExpand
Optical Properties of Radio-selected Narrow-Line Seyfert 1 Galaxies
We present results from the analysis of the optical spectra of 47 radio-selected narrow-line Seyfert 1 galaxies (NLS1s). These objects are a subset of the First Bright Quasar Survey (FBQS) and wereExpand
RXTE and BeppoSAX Observations of MCG –5-23-16: Reflection from Distant Cold Material
We examine the spectral variability of the Seyfert 1.9 galaxy MCG -5-23-16 by using the Rossi X-Ray Timing Explorer (RXTE) and BeppoSAX observations spanning 2 years from 1996 April to 1998 April.Expand
We analyze the X-ray variability of 264 Sloan Digital Sky Survey spectroscopic quasars using the Chandra public archive. This data set consists of quasars with spectroscopic redshifts out to zExpand
Slim Disks with Transition Regions and Applications to Microquasars and Narrow-Line Seyfert 1 Galaxies
Slim disks have been received much attention because of the increasing evidence of supercritical accreting objects. In this paper, we make an attempt to construct a unified model in which theExpand
Observational evidence for gravitationally trapped massive axion(-like) particles
Abstract Several unexpected astrophysical observations can be explained by gravitationally captured massive axions or axion-like particles, which are produced inside the Sun or other stars and areExpand

BeppoSAX observations of Narrow-Line Seyfert 1 galaxies: II. Ionized iron features in Arakelian 564
The BeppoSAX observations of the bright Narrow-Line Seyfert 1 galaxy Ark 564 are presented along with a high quality optical spectrum taken at the 1.5m telescope at La Silla. The 0.1-10 keV X-rayExpand
X-Ray Signatures of an Ionized Reprocessor in the Seyfert Galaxy Ton S180
We discuss the hard X-ray properties of the Seyfert galaxy Ton S180 based on the analysis of ASCA data. We find the X-ray flux varied by a factor ~2 on a timescale of a few thousand seconds. TheExpand
Extreme X-Ray Variability in the Narrow-Line QSO PHL 1092
A ROSAT observation of the narrow-line Fe II QSO PHL 1092 shows rapid variability that requires an efficiency of at least 0.13, exceeding the theoretical maximum for an accretion disk around aExpand
ROSAT monitoring of persistent giant and rapid variability in the narrow-line Seyfert 1 galaxy IRAS 13224-3809
We report evidence for persistent giant and rapid X-ray variability in the radio-quiet, ultrasoft, strong Fe II, narrow-line Seyfert 1 galaxy IRAS 13224-3809. Within a 30 day ROSAT High ResolutionExpand
A rapid energetic X-ray flare in the quasar PKS0558–504
QUASARS normally exhibit only small fluctuations in brightness, but occasional instances of substantial variability have been used to constrain the size and geometry of the emitting region. Here weExpand
Radio properties of narrow-lined Seyfert 1 galaxies
We have observed seven narrow-linedd Seyfert 1 (NLS1) galaxies and one high-ionization Seyfert 2 galaxy with the Very Large Array (VLA). Combining these observations with published data, we summarizeExpand
A Comprehensive Spectral and Variability Study of Narrow-Line Seyfert 1 Galaxies Observed by ASCA. I. Observations and Time Series Analysis
I present a comprehensive and uniform analysis of 25 ASCA observations from 23 narrow-line Seyfert 1 galaxies. The time series analysis is presented in this paper, Part 1, and the spectral analysisExpand
Subrelativistic Radio Jets and Parsec-Scale Absorption in Two Seyfert Galaxies
The Very Long Baseline Array has been used at 15 GHz to image the milliarcsecond structure of the Seyfert galaxies Mrk 231 and Mrk 348 at two epochs separated by about 1.7 yr. Both galaxies containExpand
A comparison of the hard ASCA spectral slopes of broad- and narrow-line Seyfert 1 galaxies
The soft (\approx 0.1--2.0 keV) X-ray spectra of narrow-line Seyfert 1 galaxies are known to be generally steeper than those of Seyfert 1 galaxies with broader optical permitted lines. This has beenExpand
The spectra of narrow-line Seyfert 1 galaxies
Measurements are presented of a group of active galactic nuclei with all the properties of Seyfert 1 or 1.5 galaxies, but with unusually narrow H I lines. They include Mrk 42, 359, and 1239Expand
