Obesity, a worldwide public health problem is often associated with the metabolic syndrome. Indeed, infiltration of immune cells within obese adipose tissues participates to the establishment of a chronic sub-inflammatory environment leading to insulin resistance. As in various inflammatory disorders, fasting regimens have demonstrated their beneficial effects in reducing obesity and its subsequent metabolic syndrome, through reduction of inflammation in white adipose tissues.
