Tettigoniidae (Orthoptera) from Turkey and the Middle East
A rich material which consists of the unidentified specimens preserved in the Natural History Museum London; Naturhistorisches Museum Wien and the specimens collected from Turkey by the author, is studied and many species are discussed and compared with their close allies.
Characterization of the complete mitochondrial genome of the Yunnan endemic grasshopper Yunnanacris yunnaneus (Insecta: Orthoptera: Acrididae)
- BiologyConservation Genetics Resources
The complete mitochondrial genome of Y. yunnaneus was assembled from high-coverage (35.5×) Illumina MiSeq sequencing data and found to have a remarkably high A + T content.
Pamphagidae (Orthoptera: Acridoidea) from the Palaearctic Region: taxonomy, classification, keys to genera and a review of the tribe Nocarodeini I.Bolívar.
The very rich material of Palaearctic Pamphagidae preserved in the collections including the type specimens of all taxa, the historical unidentified specimens and newly collected material have been…
A new species of Eupholidoptera Maran (Orthoptera: Tettigoniidae) from South Turkey
- BiologyZoosystematica Rossica
The Eastern Mediterranean Region of Turkey and Crete Island in Greece are richest in species of the genus Eupholidoptera with ten and eleven reported species, respectively. One additional new…
Characterization of the complete mitochondrial genome of the Yunnan endemic grasshopper Longchuanacris curvifurculus (Insecta: Orthoptera: Catantopidae)
- BiologyMitochondrial DNA. Part B, Resources
The complete mitochondrial genome of L. curvifurculus was assembled from high-coverage (36.8×) Illumina MiSeq sequencing data and harboring 37 typical mitochondrial genes and one control region, which has a remarkably high A + T content.
A comparative study of genome organization and inferences for the systematics of two large bushcricket genera of the tribe Barbitistini (Orthoptera: Tettigoniidae: Phaneropterinae)
- BiologyBMC Evolutionary Biology
It was concluded that the physical mapping of rDNA sequences and heterochromatin may be used as an additional marker for understanding interspecific relationships in these groups and their routes of speciation.
Phylogeny and biogeography Eupholidoptera Mařan (Orthoptera, Tettigoniidae): morphological speciation in correlation with the geographical evolution of the eastern Mediterranean
Epholidoptera Mařan is a Mediterranean lineage of Tettigoniidae, restricted to the northern and eastern basin of the Mediterranean, with a significant number of species found on the Aegean islands, and radiation in the genus is a result of divergence in morphology.
An annotated checklist of the Orthoptera (Saltatoria) of Cyprus
For the first time a critical, annotated checklist of the Orthoptera of Cyprus is published and it is argued that Modicogryllus cyprius is a valid species, based on the morphology of the epiphallus and analysis of song.
Systematics and bioacoustics of the Poecilimon sanctipauli-group (Orthoptera: Tettigonioidea: Phaneropteridae)
A combination of characters by which Poecilimon species can be recognised as members of the P. sanctipauli group are described, most important are the wide fastigium, short ovipositor and song characters.
Systematics and phylogeny of Parapholidoptera (Orthoptera: Tettigoniidae: Tettigoniinae)
Cladistic analysis revealed the monophyly of the genus with two major clades, and Parapholidoptera flexuosa Karabag, previously a subspecies of P. castaneoviridis, is recognized as a separate species.
