THE administrators of the Beilby Memorial Fund have awarded one hundred guineas each to Dr. Constance F. Tipper (ne Elam), and to Dr. A. J. V. Underwood. Dr. Elam (Mrs. G. H. Tipper), was an assistant in the metallurgical department at the National Physical Laboratory, Teddington, in 1916-1734; and in 1917-27 she worked at the Royal School of Mines, South Kensington, where she was research assistant to Sir Harold Carpenter.
