The behaviour and ecology of lake charr Salvelinus namaycush, brook charr S. fontinalis, and Atlantic salmon Salmo salar, are reviewed to assess the susceptibility of these species to mortality from exposure to episodic pH depressions and accompanying changes in water quality.
