Several behavioral characteristics that seemingly function during schooling of the tadpoles of Rana hecksheri were examined. Even with excess food available, the addition of new food or food-scented water adjacent to a quiescent tadpole stimulated feeding. Feeding activity of one individual stimulated others to feed even if the odor of the food was not available to subsequent individuals.
